Following last summer’s successful pilot, Public Safety Canada is excited to offer the Young Women in Public Safety (YWPS) Student Employment Opportunity again this July! Now an annual program, this year it has been expanded to participating locations across the country.
YWPS provides an opportunity for grade 11 women (grade 10/secondary 4 in Quebec) to gain insight into challenging career opportunities available in the realm of public safety and security. The week-long paid employment opportunity allows participants to meet women who are leaders and experts in their field.
Know a young woman interested in participating? She can apply through the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FWSEP) until Monday, April 16.
Ottawa Fire Services, in partnership with Fire Service Women Ontario, is pleased to announce an application call for Camp FFIT (Female Firefighters in Training) 2018. Young women between the ages of 15 and 19, who meet the application criteria, are invited to apply.
Camp FFIT (August 13 to 17) is designed to educate young women about the career of firefighting. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and perform many skill-building and firefighter work tasks.
